I think in helped in Montgomery county Maryland. Really hard to tell since mosquito pops grow and shrink as season progresses anyway. Next summer will be real test.

Very impressed with this product – noticeable impact on mosquito populations starting 2 weeks after using it! in Tucson, Arizona where we have a surprising amount of mosquitoes (Aedies species) due to a neighbor’s plumbing leaks and their lack of concern for post-rain protocols to ensure that mosquitoes are minimized. GreenStrike has got a great solution here for the world.

Unfortunately the batteries this unit came with ran out of charge at about the 3rd week – so we replaced them with rechargeable batteries we’d purchased and charged specifically for this item.

HOWEVER, there is a product manual error – and GS doesn’t warn folks that you cannot use rechargeable batteries with this item – doing so will cause it to malfunction, then to break. 🙁

This caused us to reconsider our purchasing plan (can’t stand using appliances that won’t take rechargeable batteries) and we are returning ii and instead ordering the lower-tech GreenStrike, which involves manually cranking it for less than a minute every four days to disperse the water. For the long term, this is the better approach than buying tons of toxic and expensive batteries for years to come.

Keith – We own 96 acres of property including 80 acres of lowland hardwoods with lots of standing water. The mosquitoes are brutal here in the summer. I first used the mosquito magnet and then the skeeter vac both units use 20lb propane tanks. These units need maintenance every year and after approx 3 years they stop working because the exhaust fills up with carbon.

The Mosquito preventer does not use propane it uses 8 AA batteries. I have upgraded to the Preventer 2 so far no issues they start up in the spring. The units are easy to maintain just change the water, batteries, filter and landing strips every 30 days and check them once a week. I see the larvae moving in the bottom holding tank when I do the monthly maintenance. I dump the water onto the driveway on a sunny day to kill the larvae. In the fall I empty the bottom water tank, remove the batteries, remove filter and landing strips store inside for the winter till next spring. I order the filter packages, including filter, lure and landing strips, it’s easy and they are shipped to my door. Batteries you can purchase anywhere. I give them a 4.5 star rating.

Excellent product.. I have used the Automatic Mosquito Preventer for three seasons now and it has been a real help in reducing the presence of mosquitoes in my yard. My wife swears by it. She was unwilling to sit in the yard especially in the evening, before we had the Preventer, and now she is more than happy to spend an evening sipping wine by candlelight.
Was a bit fiddly to program originally but the upgrade did help by adding the remote. I am replacing the remote control this season as it appears to have a glitch but the unit itself works just fine.
    Highly recommend..
    Matt
